On February 17th 2008, the Operation Team of Boom Online will open Ladder Channel – 2nd year Tournament, seeking for the most excellent ‘Boomers’ of the bubble world. The Tournament in its second year will be even more attractive thanks to the more appealing collection of awards, both in-game and off-game.
Apart from Beginner Channel and Free Mode, Ladder Channel is a competition mode specifically created for Boom Online and based on PvP mode and rankings. The determination for competitors in Ladder Channel is based upon the results of PvP games in Basic and Free Combat Mode. Ladder Channel currently consists of 6 separate channels including 4 free mode channels, 2 basic channels, 2 practice channels, and applies on all available maps of Boom Online. Ladder Channel is for better service to the varied entertainment needs of Boomers.
As the regulations say, a Ladder Channel tournament will be held once a quarter (3 months) to find out the best Boomers, who will be listed on the honorable Grade of Channel itself. The first tournament has closed after many exciting matches from October 5th 2007 to January 5th 2008. Some ‘Boom Stars’ were introduced to the community thanks to the tournament.
Upon the ending of the first tournament, all Boomers attending were rewarded as they deserved based on win point. Win points are accumulated when a boomer win two-minute games of the tournament. All boomers with high results were listed on the in-game Grade and were granted with in-game items in accordance with their levels in the Channel. Boomers of level 1 (lowest grade in the Channel) got 10 needles (needles are used to puncture the bubble so that a captured player can escape). Meanwhile, lv 10 Boomers were granted a set of items of 25 needles + 25 fish cans + 25 control kits + 1 room leader super-card + 1 privilege card.
Moreover, top 10 Boomers of the Tournament of Hanoi Server and HCMC server were awarded really valuable off-game stuffs, including: 1 luxurious iPhone for First Prize, 1 Nokia N72 cell phone for Second Prize, 4-Gb stylist iPods for Third Prize, 7 fashionable Swatch watches for Encouragement Prizes. The Grade of the top 10 Boomers was accessible at www.boom.zing.vn .
The second tournament, which is planned to start on January 17th 2008, will present some changes to make it more tempting and challenging. To be more detailed: Boomers must reach level 16 or above to be eligible for the tournament. The second change is the greater variety and the higher value of awards. The total value worth up to 200 million dong will include laptops, iPhones, electric bikes, Samsung S5 pocket mobile amplifiers, iPods.
Ladder Channel was found more allure to Boomers than Free Mode and Basic Mode. The point was that the Channel mechanically and automatically selected suitable competitors for Boomers, making every game in the Tournament really exciting and balance because the pairs were very equal.
After a two-minute game, the Boomer will get both win points and Lucci regarding the ‘heaviness’ of his/her competitor. Win points in the Channel were reckoned by the formula: +/- 10 (basic points) -/+ (Your Grade – Your competitors’ grades on average). With this formula, in a game between a Boomer of lower level against another Boomer of higher level, the former if wins will gain more points and Lucci than the other will if wins.
‘Ladder Channel is a special function we ‘ordered’ Nexon in Korea to create for our Boomers. We’d like to make it an exciting regular playing field for the competitions and for the self to be shown off. The finished first-year tournament proved that the attractiveness this function gave was very high. The servers running Ladder Channel were packed with Boomers all the time. Therefore, in this second-year tournament, we made up our minds to limit accession to level 16 above to make it more appealing and challenging. Boomers will be well rewarded for this requirement with awards of higher values,’ said Mr. Tran Quoc Hung, Brand Manager of Boom Online.
Ladder Channel will finalize every 3 months. The second tournament will come to an end on April 17th 2008. All records and Grades of featured Boomers will be fully and regularly updated every day, every week, every Quarter in-game and on www.boom.zing.vn alike.
